Starting somewhere between L40-L50, I stopped running out of Jet. Also, any psycho or buffout found can be stapled onto a regular Jet for a damage and duration boost. Each time you stop at a settlement, walk over to the table and make Jet. Cattle Troughs, Chem tables and plastic supply at all your settlements. Upgrade your chems, get +50% slowdown duration by using Ultrajet/Buffjet/Psychojet instead of vanilla Jet. Upgrade your armor, get +50% slowdown duration from the chest BioCommMesh mod.

Upgrade your perks, get +200% slowdown duration from Chemist 4. Beyond satisfying Idiot Savant requirement, you also don't really care about luck - it no longer affects your combat. Clears up a whopload of perks for ones that do raw damage.

This includes better criticals, penetrator, concentrated fire, gun-fu, critical banker, four leaf clover, etc etc. Save needing to invest in any of the VATS and critical perks. Rather than the very, VERY limited number of things one can do when in VATS, the jet road offers complete freedom. Sharing what I've done, would love to hear other people's experiences. Started doing JET as an alternate bullet-time mechanism that avoids the VATS crash and allows for long safe-from-crashing runs, and found the following. None of the techniques on the forums helped.
